GMC How To Remove GTIN From Feed By Using Rules

I have been in a rabbit hole for a days now where I am trying to figure out how to remove GTIN and unique product identifiers by using rules. I figured this is the best way because we are dropshipping from Aliexpress and our manufacturers do not offer any GTINs or MPNs.

Does anyone have a clue on which rules I should create in order for our products to be approved? Or how to solve this?

All help is much appreciated.

When dropshipping products from Aliexpress that do not have GTINs or MPNs (Manufacturer Part Numbers), you may encounter difficulties when it comes to meeting the requirements of certain platforms, such as Google Shopping, which often require these unique identifiers. While each platform has its own specific rules and policies, here are some general suggestions to help address this issue:

  1. Check platform guidelines: Review the guidelines and policies of the platform(s) you’re targeting, such as Google Shopping or other advertising channels. Understand their requirements regarding GTINs and unique identifiers. Some platforms may provide specific guidance on how to handle products without GTINs or MPNs.

  2. Add the “identifier_exists” attribute: In your product data feed or product listings, consider adding the “identifier_exists” attribute to indicate that GTINs or MPNs do not exist for the products. Set the value of this attribute to “FALSE” to inform the platform that the unique identifier is not available.

  3. Provide alternative product information: If GTINs or MPNs are not available, focus on providing as much relevant information about the product as possible. This can include detailed descriptions, specifications, high-quality images, and other product attributes that can help potential customers understand and differentiate the product.

You can follow this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyvilyMb2Bo

In short the following rules apply:

  1. If a manufacturer has assigned a barcode then you are required to add this info in the GTIN field. Alongside the brand value with identifier exists to yes.

  2. If the manufacturer has not assigned a barcode, then remove the values brand, mpn and gtin and set identifier exists to no.

Thank you very much for the detailed explanation, I have currently set the “identified exists” to “FALSE” - but I think I am not applying it correctly/setting it in action after creating it.

My issue is that I have made some rules previously to try to solve this issue, but I also don’t know how to remove them properly, so I am afraid to “apply” the new rule I made.

Could you please guide me on how to remove the excess rules and only keep the new rule I made with ur help and set that rule to live? That would be much appreciated.

Here is a screenshot for your reference: (I am trying to remove the GTIN rule which is set to false)

Could you also confirm that the rule you explained that I have made is correct? The “identifier exists” which is set to “false”?

Thanks a lot in advance.

@Onlinetrap To remove a previous rule, you must click on apply. Otherwise the changes you made will not apply.

After that make sure to reprocess the feed.

I would also update the other rules, such as remove brand and mpn values. If you followed my video, you will notice I have a rule for every attribute. By following the rules you will ensure it is all correctly done.

If however you choose to only apply partial rules, then you may continue to have issues.

I appreciate your reply, thank you very much! I literally didn’t see the link right in front of my eyes. Awesome that you have a video, I will check it out right away. Actually cool to see u reply here because I have been watching some of the ur videos on YT. I will get back and let you know how it worked out.

Hi again!

I followed your video, which was awesome btw, very easy to understand. But after 24 hours I still get the “identified exists” and “gtin value missing” alert and error. I know that there will be a limited performance because of the gtin value not being there, and I see that this also only is an “alert”, so maybe that’s how it should be when it comes to the gtin? Here is a screenshot of the errors and alerts I have:

I am not sure if you are able to determine any errors with the rules themselves by the screenshots, I followed your video step by step, but there could be a chance I did anything wrong, if you could see anything wrong from the screenshot, could you please guide me on what to do? Should I try removing and adding the rules in again?

Here are screenshots of how I set up the rules according to your video:

Looking forward to your reply, thanks a lot in advance!

@Onlinetrap make sure to reprocess the products if you have not done so already. Here is a guide: https://feedarmy.com/kb/how-to-reprocess-content-api-in-google-merchant-center/
