GMC Store Quality

Hello Emmanuel. Thank you for hosting this! I have a couple questions for you.

  1. What is the marketing impact of having a Top Quality score have on marketing (both paid and organic)

  2. If a business offers both flat rate shipping and several carrier calculated shipping options, however they are currently sending the flat rate shipping only through the feed and at a “fair” score (with a google recommendation of Lower your shipping cost to be more competitive). Besides lowering shipping or lowering the free shipping threshold at the store level, would adding the carrier calculated shipping options in the gmc improve the shipping cost and transit times score even is some services are slower or faster and some cost more and some less?

  3. If adding the carrier calculated options manually in the gmc is beneficial, I see there is an option to “manually adjust shipping rates”. If a business is using the shopify shipping rates with the grow subscription plan, do they need to include a “manual adjust the shipping rates” when providing USPS and UPS services?

  4. If the business offers multiple carrier shipping services, how many of these or which ones should be added to the GMC be best improve the shipping experience?

  5. Any words of caution to be aware of when adding shipping services manually?

  6. Are there any other tips or tricks to improving the shipping experience?

Hello Michael, thank you for your questions, excited to answer them all.

Store Badge

That is a good question, I have actually not tracked data for when this was enabled for clients. Because it’s part of the annotation group. Annotations have a lot of different types and we will never know which one Google will choose to show. Sometimes they will add price drop, shipping, maybe returns info. Sometimes they will show trusted store badge, and sometimes not. So even if we know it’s enabled in the account, because it’s not always visible in the ads or free listings, we would not know what has a big impact regarding annotations. I made a video about annotations here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ztru3Ouciu4

Shipping

You will get more clicks if a consumer can see faster delivery, yes. Nowadays consumers want products delivered fast, so if you can show that, then the likelihood of getting a click is higher compared to a listing that is slower. If the assumption is that we are only looking at shipping speed. As you know, a consumer makes a decision based on lots of factors.

Please note if you submit shipping data via the feed, this will overwrite GMC shipping settings. So in this case you need to add all shipping settings both normal and fast in GMC shipping settings, and remove it from the feed. So all shipping options are available.

However, in most cases, you will notice that Google will show the cheapest shipping on the shopping listings.

And I would add all shipping services, because then the cheapest will show. And if you expand the ad, consumers may see other shipping options.

And when adding shipping services manually in GMC shipping settings, make sure to remove the shipping options from the feed, and if you using the google and youtube app, disable to automatic shipping options. Otherwise it will overwrite what you add.

Make sure the cutoff time, handling time and delivery time are added and are accurate as well as the timezone where the warehouse is located, to ensure consumers always see accurate shipping times.
