I’ve done 2 Google Ads for my new shop, focussing on specific product collections. Setting up, to put it politely, is a huge “learning experience.” It takes 5 days for the ad to become published. And whenever the slightest change is made to my ad, the ad becomes dormant for 5 days until the “learning” is finished again. Help?
Hi @murray_3
This is a very common challenge. Google Ads requires a “learning phase” to optimize your campaign and find the right audience. It takes time for the platform to match your targeting criteria with relevant keyword searches. To avoid repeatedly restarting this phase, you should make very few changes to your campaign, especially early on.
Instead of making slight adjustments, let the campaign run for at least two weeks to gather sufficient data. Then, analyze what worked and what didn’t, and make changes based on those insights. This cycle of analysis and refinement is how campaigns improve over time. Small changes, like fixing a typo, will not kick it back to the learning phase, but more significant changes will. For a small business, you may need outside help to ensure your campaign is set up correctly and effectively, as advertising is a profession in itself.
