Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help me with a Google Ads tracking issue that started after migrating my store to Shopify.
Since the migration, everything in Google Ads still records - clicks, impressions, costs - but the conversion value stopped updating correctly. Shopify Support confirmed that the purchase conversion events are firing properly, but in Google Ads, the conversion action now shows “Needs attention” or “Tag inactive”.
I’m using Shopify’s official Google & YouTube sales channel, not a third-party app, and it’s fully connected to my Merchant Center and Ads accounts. I’ve already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the channel, re-authenticating everything, and Shopify confirmed the pixel is active on their end. We used Simprosys before this.
Has anyone experienced this after reconnecting the Google & YouTube app?
Should I delete the inactive conversion in Google Ads and let Shopify automatically create a new one, or is there a way to re-sync it without losing data?
We also have found duplicates tags using Chrome Tag Assistant - but no success on finding it in theme code, etc…
Any advice or step-by-step fix would be really appreciated - I’ve been stuck with this for over two weeks and it’s affecting campaign optimisation.
Thanks in advance!
