In google ads, my campaign diagnostics says “Your website is missing a Google tag Install a Google tag on your website to enable optimization and drive results.” However, in Shopify, in the Google & You Tube sales channel, it shows that Google Ads is connected correctly. How do I resolve this issue?
This can mean that you have just installed it, and it needs a few days to track the data.
It can also mean if you have already fixed the issue after you had seen the message, that you did not dismiss the message. Recommendations in Google ads will not auto disappear, you need to manually confirm what you did.
You could also try to uninstall and re-install the app again, then wait 3 days, and check the results.
You can verify if its tracking here: https://ads.google.com/aw/productlinks/datasourcestats/googletag
If you continue to have issues with the app, best to fill out this form: Shopify App Support - Google Merchant Center Help
Thank you. I have tried those things, but the problem persists. That link you provided to verify the connection shows that I am getting Google Tag hits. But when I use the “test connection” button from Google Ads it says I don’t have a tag. I have filled out that form, but Google told me it was a Shopify problem and I needed to work with you.
I don’t work for Shopify, nor do I work for Google.
I am an advertising specialist helping merchants advertise on Google Shopping. So Google Ads and Google Merchant Center.
If the tags are tracking data, then all should be fine.
I am unsure you can test tags, considering Shopify Pixels (customer events) are in sandbox mode, which means you can not test it.
