For a small business, I wanted to try the water first and keep the marketing budget in check. I’m selling samples of home roasted coffee and get affiliated with bean suppliers and roaster brands. Facebook ads seem to be a good spring board to tap into local community. I wonder if Google Ads can be set up for this business model? Also, anything new to the Google Ads settings to get into Google’s ai mode?
Hello Arcs, great question, and welcome to today’s Shopify AMA! I’m Emmanuel from FeedArmy, and I’ll be your host for today’s session.
For the new Google AI overviews, I have made a great video of what new attributes Google uses. Linked below. It means you have to add these specific attributes in your data feed. For my clients I do this by adding a supplement feed and adding all the missing data.
For a small business with a handfull of products you can do this using the manual editor in Google Merchant Center.
How to Optimize Google Shopping for Google AI Overviews
Regarding a good setup for your business, I would test two different setups, or even more, because there are so many ways to move forward.
The easiest way is to setup a Performace Max campaign, but this means you are pretty much targeting anything related to coffee, so this can quickly spend your budget.
The more controlled way, is to setup an standard shopping campaign with an advanced layer. This allows you to focus on specific search terms. For example focus on only dark roast search terms, instead of medium or light roasts. And decaf vs normal.
Here is a guide regarding the advanced setup: Advanced Standard Shopping
