Google display ads

I am currently running a display campaign optimized for conversions. I have 2.75K clicks, 101k impressions, CPC $0.11 and 0 conversions in the past month. How can I optimize it and actually get conversions? The conversion tracking is working and correctly set. The ad is supposed to be 97.3% in optimization score. However no conversions. What can I do?

Thanks!

Hello SwilArts, thank you for your question in the FeedArmy AMA Event.

Make sure that you look at view-through conversions. Display ads naturally have very few direct sales but a lot of view-through sales. This means when a consumer sees your ad, then at a later stage decides to make a purchase.

The optimization score does not do much, this is Google’s attempt to make you spend more. It’s honestly a misleading metric in Google Ads. Yes, some are good points if you forget to do something.

To improve display ads, focus on who you are targeting, for example, what audience list did you choose? Set up different audience lists such as 1 day + didn’t buy, then 3 days + didn’t buy, 7 days, 14 days, and so on, and see what is getting the most views through.

Then improve the images you add to the assets. For example, add messaging.

You can also offer a discount for returning customers for 14+ days.

Thanks for this! How do I do the audience list part?

First, create the audience list here: https://ads.google.com/aw/audiences/management

Then apply the custom audience list you created and add it to the audience section of the campaign.

Thanks!!! And do you know how long more or less it takes to see the changes
working

I recommend testing for 2 to 3 weeks and compare the data before and after.

Awesome! Thanks so much for your help!

One more question, how do I create the promotion and link it to the no buy
day 15?

Thanks!!!

I don’t know what no buy day 15 means.

But to create a promotion in Google Merchant Center have a look at the video below:

Just an update, I now realize you meant an audience list of no buyers. However for promotions in google shopping, the promotion needs to apply for all users.

Thanks for this! And sorry for not explaining myself correctly…

So, what exactly did you mean with this: “You can also offer a discount for
returning customers for 14+ days.” on your first response?

You can add a promotional text on your images you add to the image assets.

Ahhh!! Got it! Thank you!!!

Do you think with low ticket products there is still a way to see the ROI
of google ads?

It’s harder of course. So look at improving the product details in the data feed as first step.
