Google Merchant Account Suspension - can't seem to fix it

Topic summary

Key Issues Identified:

  • Contact page missing critical business information (physical address, phone number, response time, business name, social links)
  • Product descriptions may be too short (Google recommends 500-5000 characters)
  • Missing availability status on product landing pages
  • PO boxes not accepted; physical address required

Current Status:
The issue remains unresolved despite multiple review attempts. Multiple users report experiencing identical problems, with at least two noting a potential connection to the Dawn Theme specifically—suggesting a pattern where Dawn Theme users face disproportionate suspension rates.

A community checklist resource was shared to help address common Merchant Center suspension issues. The discussion reflects ongoing frustration with Google’s enforcement inconsistencies and lack of responsive support.

Hi all,

Google Merchant Centre has suspended my account due to ‘website or online store needs improvement’.

Make sure your website meets the following requirements

  • Your website should have a domain name that matches the uploaded domain name
  • Your entire website shouldn’t have any broken links
  • Your website shouldn’t contain any placeholder images or text
  • The product details and categories should match those that you provide in your product data
  • Your website shouldn’t contain generic information and shouldn’t miss crucial information about products

I have tried to fix everything possible but am still getting rejected when I do a review.

Can anyone tell me if there is something I’m missing? When I updated to Dawn Version 11.0 it seemed to have triggered something and this is around the time I got suspended.

Thanks!

Hi @Sown-AU

I understand this is frustrating; you mentioned that the issue was raised when you changed the theme. Have you checked if the business information and the product data are the same as before? Could we look at your Google Merchant Center to see if the issue can be fixed?

While you may have a suspension related to webstie or online store needs improvement, it will also relate to missing parts related to misrepresentation.

For example your contact page https://sown.au/pages/contact does not have an address, response, time, business name, telephone number or social links.

Having descriptions of 500 to 5000 characters is recommended

Missing availability status on the product landing page

PO boxes will not be accepted, you need to use an address where you are physically located.

You will have more issues, but the above is what I spotted, without going too deep.

I am having the exact same problem and don’t even know where to start. One click leads to another and leads to another and before I know it, I’ve gone done a hole that I I don’t know how to get out of.

Did you fix this? I am 90% sure the Dawn Theme causes this problem.

I have tried everything to fix for two of my clients. They are both using the Dawn Theme. Out of the 8 companies I have worked with, they are the only ones to have this problem, and they are my only clients using the Dawn Theme.

Same. Its very frustrating and frankly ridiculous given Google level of inaction and complacency with the level of Scammers they allow to operate all on their YouTube platform throughout the chats, comments sections and Deep fake barcode scam ads. But they throttle us over a little issues that frankly in real life have no real impact on most customers shopping “experience” with such the little customer attention span that’s so common today.
