Google merchant center how do i show a product for hire purchases only and pick up

Topic summary

A user is seeking guidance on listing rental/hire products from peakbikestation.co.uk in Google Merchant Center. They have configured rental functionality through an app but need to know how to properly represent products as available for hire only (not purchase or shipping) in their product feed.

A respondent warns that rental products have historically been prohibited on Google Shopping, though current policies don’t explicitly address this. Key concerns:

  • Google Shopping is designed for product purchases, not rentals
  • Listing rental items may risk account suspension
  • The policy ambiguity creates uncertainty

The discussion remains unresolved with no clear solution provided for compliant rental product listings.

Hi on the website peakbikestation.co.uk we want to be able for customers to be able to hire a product. We have through an app sorted all the links and payments. But on Google Merchant centre how to we represent what this product is for hire and not for purchase or shipping.

Thanks, and feed back would be appreciated.

Historicallly products for hire or rent, have not been allowed on Google Shopping. Now the issue is that Google does not mention anything specifically about it. Which means you may or may not get suspended. Because it was historically not allowed, I would be careful about proceeding.

Google Shopping is designed for purchasing an item. Not rental.
