Hi all,
I’m running into a Google Merchant Center issue that I can’t resolve from the Shopify side, and I’d really appreciate help from anyone who has dealt with this.
My store is https://luxebykan.com — it previously supported two languages, English and Arabic. I no longer want to sell in Arabic, so I removed it from both places:
- Settings → Languages → Arabic archived
- Markets → Catalogs → the Arabic catalog archived
Both show as archived correctly in the Shopify admin, and the storefront only loads in English now.
The problem:
Google Merchant Center is still disapproving a chunk of my products with the reason: ‘product is not available in Arabic’ (i.e. it’s still expecting an Arabic version of the product to exist). It looks like Shopify is still submitting the Arabic-language variant of these products to Google, even though Arabic is archived everywhere on my end.
What I need help with:
- After archiving a language and a market catalog in Shopify, is there an additional setting in the Google & YouTube channel app (or Shopify Markets feed config) that needs to be updated to stop sending the Arabic-language feed to GMC?
- Where exactly is the Arabic-language product data still being pushed from? Is it cached on Shopify’s side, on Google’s side, or is the channel app still submitting it?
- What’s the cleanest way to fully remove the Arabic-language products from my GMC feed so the disapprovals clear automatically on the next feed sync?
I’ve already checked: Settings → Languages, Markets → Catalogs, and the products themselves — Arabic is archived in all three. The disapprovals are still present in GMC.
If anyone has gone through this exact scenario (removing a language after it was previously feeding GMC), I’d love to know the steps you followed.
Thanks in advance.
the google and youtube app is buggy. even if you remove a feed, there is a chance it keeps sending those products to merchant center.
what you can try and has worked out for many other merchants, remove the app once (sales channel, ie., google and youtube) and then add it again.
hopefully after you add it again, it only sends your current active english feed. if it still doesn’t, please note you might have to go ahead with another google shopping feed solution.
@Shivam_Verma may be problem with Google merchant language Setting, once check the language setting and wait for 3-4 days, Normally Google taken max time..most of the time, it will fixe the problem automatically after follow Google app and GMC guidelines..
ran a structured check on your store and the two things that stand out as common misrepresentation triggers are:
-
/pages/about returns a 404. google’s automated review reads the business-identity story from your about page. without one, or with a thin one, it’s harder to build trust signal score. an about page with founding context, the person or team, and at least one verifiable specific (companies house number for UK, similar for other countries) moves this materially.
-
no email address visible in plain text on the contact page (form-only). google’s crawler doesn’t submit forms, so the email in plain text on /pages/contact is what gets indexed as your contact-signal. shopify themes often hide this by default.
your policy pages all return 200 which is good. the next step before requesting another review is to verify the feed price matches the live product page price for every variant in a private browser session (currency apps and dynamic discount apps often cause silent mismatches).
In your Google and youtube app settings go to language option (I forgot the correct name but it’s next to other options such as shipping, etc.) and remove the other countries / languages.
Then in Google Merchant Center > data sources > remove the other language feeds.
Did you delete the Arabic from the market and Shipping profile?
I’ve dealt with this exact problem! When you archive a language in Shopify, the Google channel app often keeps sending the old feed unless you force a full refresh.
-
Go to your Google & YouTube app settings → Feeds, and make sure the Arabic language feed is disabled there too, not just archived in Markets.
-
Manually trigger a full feed refresh in the app — sometimes the sync gets stuck on cached data.
-
If that doesn’t work, delete and reconnect the Google channel entirely (just the app connection, not your GMC account) to reset the feed.
The disapproval usually clears up within 24-48 hours after the feed updates.
Hi there @Shivam_Verma,
Dealing with ghost data in Google Merchant Center is incredibly frustrating. Even though you have archived Arabic in your main Shopify settings, the Google and YouTube app often maintains its own internal mapping of which languages and markets to sync.
First, go directly into the Google and YouTube app settings in your Shopify admin and verify that Arabic is disabled within the feed configuration specifically. Sometimes the app continues to push archived data because the channel-specific settings were not updated alongside your main Markets settings.
Next, log into your Google Merchant Center account and navigate to Products then Data Sources. Check if there is a separate feed or a supplemental feed specifically for the Arabic language. If you see one, delete it manually to stop Google from looking for those variants. If the issue persists, you might need to remove and then reconnect the Google and YouTube sales channel to force a completely fresh sync of your catalog.
Keep in mind that it can take three to four days for Google’s diagnostics report to update after you have made these changes. On a separate note, while you are fixing your feed, make sure to add a clear About Us page and a plain text email address to your Contact page. Several merchants have noticed that Google’s automated reviews often flag stores for misrepresentation if these basic trust signals are missing.
Hope this helps,
