Main issue: Google is showing currency/region text (e.g., “NOK kr | Switzerland; …”) as the search result snippet instead of the site’s SEO meta description, and is surfacing parameterized/collection URLs (e.g., collections/all, ?setCurrencyId & sku) rather than canonical product URLs.
The site owner set up Google Search Console, submitted a sitemap, and updated SEO titles/descriptions weeks ago, triggering re-indexing multiple times. Despite this, Google continues to use the currency text extracted from page content for several pages, including collections/all.
Guidance provided: edit collection page SEO in Shopify Admin > Products > Collections (SEO section at the bottom). Screenshots were shared. A suggestion was made to consult a Shopify Partner specializing in SEO.
Follow-up: the region/currency links are hidden to users but still crawlable, and Google seems to prefer this text for the snippet. The owner asked how to prevent that content from being indexed/snippeted.
Additional reports: others see Google indexing product URLs with “?setCurrencyId” and appended SKU fragments instead of “/products/Realproduct”.
Status: No confirmed fix. Open questions: how to suppress currency/region text from snippets and stop Google indexing parameterized URLs.

I have set up Google Search Console and submitted the site map, but are running into several issues with how Google display a search for my store (I am using the Dawn theme):
For the top listing and several of my pages the google Search Engine Listing is: “NOK kr | Switzerland; NOK kr | United Kingdom; NOK kr | United States. Instagram · Store · Home · Catalog · Our Story · Responsibility …”
I have specifically added a SEO description for these pages, as well as added more descriptive text on the pages themselves. Google has indexed the pages after I made the changes, but the search engine listing is still as above.
When searching for my store in google, the second top result is the page collections/all. This page is also listed with “Collection: - Products NOK kr | Switzerland; NOK kr | United Kingdom; NOK kr …”. How can I edit the SEO description for the page collections/all?
Is there a way to make the information “NOK kr | Switzerland; NOK kr | United Kingdom; NOK kr” (which all my pages seem to have somehow) to not be available for indexing?
Any help would truly be appreciated. Thank you very much!
Hi @PierreMartini , thanks for reaching out to the Shopify Community.
I’m curious when you made the changes to your SEO descriptions?
When it comes to your collection pages, you can edit the SEO descriptions by going into your Admin > Products > Collections. Select the collection you want to edit, and then scroll to the bottom. You will see a section where you can edit your Collection SEO
I would suggest connecting with a Shopify Partner that specializes in SEO specifically for more help with how to remove certain words from not showing and more. You can browse the Shopify Partners here.
I set up the Search Engine Listing → SEO Title and Searh Engine Listing → SEO Description several weeks ago, and promted Google Search Console to re-index the pages several times. However it seems that Google prefers to use the information "NOK kr | Switzerland; NOK kr | United Kingdom; NOK kr | United States" as description istead of the SEO Description.
All region selection links are hidden on the Shopify page, however it seems google reads the information "NOK kr | Switzerland; NOK kr | United Kingdom; NOK kr | United States" as Page Text, and choose to use this as the page description when displaying search results. Any way to prevent this?
