Google Sales Channel: CONTENT API - possible to add a meta field to file? (ICON THEME)

Hi Everyone,

I have just set up the Google sales channel to feed my products for listing on Google.

The feed is working OK for us but we need a couple of improvements, so I have a couple of questions:

Firstly re: BRAND

  1. What product listing field drives the value seen in google as BRAND? I am assuming it is VENDOR but would just like to confirm 100%.

  2. We are capturing BRAND on our products via a metafield. Is it possible to direct our metafield for brand to populate the Google feed so that brand is correct reported to Google?

Secondly re: MPN

  1. I am currently having to manually add our product MPNs via the following method - sales channel/google/manage products/then update manually via the product update GUI. Is this the only way to add? Adding these one by one is very cumbersome. Ideally you could add in bulk. For example, I load my products to my store via the bulk product upload file. This file has a field called "Google Shopping / MPN’ but when I tested loading a product with this field populated the data was not stored on the product.

  2. Yes, if you are using an app that can read metafields then you can assign a custom metafield to the brand value.

For example: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

Can I ask one more question on number 2 - is using an app to assign a meta field as a specific file feed attribute the only way to action my requirement? (i.e. change the base logic of ‘shopify vendor = google brand’ to use ‘shopify metafield brand = google brand’). This is my only file tweak requirement so if I can avoid adding another monthly fee that would be great :folded_hands:

I have heard some merchants able to submit custom data in the Google Channel, but I have no idea how that is done. I recommend you talk to Shopify to find out if its possible.
