Google Search Console - main website showing 'Page with redirect'

I have just discovered this site and really hope someone can help me through some Shopify to Google Search Console issues.

I’m confused about why when I look at Google Search Console for my ‘http’ website, Google is listing under the ‘Page with redirect’ my actual .com address. This I notice is a recent listing crawl, about 2 weeks ago. Should I be seeing this here? I’m wondering what impact it could be having on my website being found by Google Searches.

Also listed are the …com/policies/terms-of-service. Again should I be seeing this here?

Thank you for your help

Hi,

  • Is the redirect you are seeing from HTTP to HTTPS? If so, then it is totally fine. You must have activated an SSL certificate, and now your traffic is going through a secure connection.
  • Regarding the Terms of service page - even if you exclude it from being crawled, Google will still show it as a URL and will notify you that it is not in the SERPs.

Hi thank you for responding. I’m in Google Search Console, I’ve selected to look at the http://websitename.com

Under ‘Why aren’t pages indexed’ subsection ‘Page with redirect’ it shows a failure.

URLs listed are:

http://websitename.com

when I run INSPECT.URL, this is what I see:

Sitemaps - no referring sitemaps detected

Referring page - https://amp.ipaddress.com/websites/websitename.com

Crawl allowed - yes

Page fetch - successful

Indexing allowed - yes

User-declared canonical - https://websitename.com

Please can you confirm to me that this is what you were referring to? Thank you

User-declared canonical -https://websitename.com -

This here confirms that you have added a canonical URL to your homepage.

HTTP and HTTPS URLs are different in Google’s eyes.

If Google redirects you to the HTTPS URL when you type your HTTP URL, all is fine.

Thank you so very much for responding and explaining.
