Hello guys! I’m Conrad, and I have a query related to how my products have been showing up on google search console. My website is gofirepits.com, and it is built on Venture theme.
Here are screenshots of two pages on my Google Search Console admin for GoFirePits.com: Shopping > Merchant Listings, and Shopping > Product Snippets
After looking at both myself, here are issues/things I have to note, as well as the screenshots of both pages and of other relevant information. I start with the screenshot of Shopping > Merchant Listings, detail issues and questions related to that, then repeat with Shopping > Product Snippets. Please feel free to ask any questions for me to clarify, or point out anything you believe I missed:
Merchant Listings:
-For missing field description, all of my products have descriptions in the shopify admin as well as on the live product pages.
-For invalid object type for field brand, I found a shopify community post (link: https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-discussions/invalid-object-type-for-field-brand/td-p/1337789) where it seems like there’s a certain snippet of code for this. I attached a screenshot of a reply on this thread by “Bmac” which shows the correct code snippet as well as an erroneous one he found in his website code (below). Could you help me identify where this code snippet is in my website code? Would you have any idea why this error only shows up for 10 of the products? Don’t all of the products use the same foundational code for their layout/fields?
-For missing field “material”, missing field “pattern”, and missing field “color”, the products which show up for all of these errors are the same: Ohio Flame Fire Pit with Hollow Base, Ohio Flame Fire Pit with Curved Base, Ohio Flame Fire Pit with Angular Base, ½” maui breeze fire glass 10lbs bag (these are all live on my site), and another product: BOSSIN 42 inch Ultra-Thin Electric Fireplace, Recessed or Wall Mounted - this last one isn’t live on my site anymore. Why is it still showing up in google search console? The link to it leads to a 404 page on my website (I pasted it here): https://gofirepits.com/products/bossin-42-inch-ultra-thin-electric-fireplace-recessed-or-wall-mounted
How are these showing up as errors for these products? Because, for the products: Ohio Flame Fire Pit with Hollow Base, Ohio Flame Fire Pit with Curved Base, Ohio Flame Fire Pit with Angular Base, the only variants of them are Size. For the maui breeze fire glass, there are no variants. And as for the last one: the BOSSIN electric fireplace, that product isn’t even live on my site anymore. Could you help me resolve these issues with these products? Might there be something in the code too for these other ones that might be off and/or wrong? Like for invalid object type field brand?
Product Snippets:
For these issues in shopping > product snippets: How can these be resolved? I have the Shopify product reviews app installed, and I do not have any customer reviews nor aggregate rating, as I have not yet turned on paid traffic for the site. I’m not sure exactly what “pricevaliduntil” refers to nor “offers”, could you explain to me what that is? The only thing that I have remotely resembling that is that I have a 10% off order discount code that can be used once per customer. I do not have any products with strikethrough “Compare At” pricing.
Other general questions about these issues:
-Why do some of these issues show products that are not live on the site? Will that at all be problematic?
-Do I just click validate fix for the ones that are kind of pointless (the error message is inaccurate, like missing field description) or aren’t currently “correctable”? Like aggregaterating, review, pricevaliduntil, missing field description, missing field pattern, missing field color.
-Why does missing field “description” show up as an issue for shopping > merchant listings but not shopping > product snippets?
-Why does “No global identifier provided (e.g., gtin, brand)” show up in shopping > merchant listings but not in shopping > product snippets? The only product that appears for this issue in shopping > merchant listings is that same BOSSIN 42 inch electric fireplace which I linked which goes to the 404 page.
I think I covered everything, and I hope I have been clear in communicating these issues. I’m looking forward to your guys’ responses/any input you have.
