Google search console sitemap cant be fetch

Google Console Search said my sitemap can’t be read. or could’t fetch I don’t know what I should do . Do I need to wait or what?

  1. Make sure it’s the right sitemap and ends in .xml
  2. Wait. Usually waiting a couple days will resolve itself
  3. Use the URL inspection at the top and inspection the sitemap
  4. Open your sitemap in a browser tab and see if it fully loads
  5. Open YOURSTORE.COM/ROBOTS.TXT in a browser tab and make sure you haven’t inadvertently blocked the sitemap (again, do not mess with this file if you don’t have a specific need)

This is usually fixable—sitemap fetch errors have a few common causes. Can you check these first:

  1. Go to Search Console → Sitemaps section
  2. What’s the exact error message? (“Couldn’t fetch” vs “Can’t read” matters)
  3. Try opening your sitemap directly: yourstore.com/sitemap.xml (does it load?)

Could be either:

  • Temporary glitch: Google retries automatically. If it’s been <48 hours, waiting is fine.
  • Robots.txt blocking: Check yourstore.com/robots.txt—make sure it’s not blocking Googlebot.
  • Theme/app conflict: Rarely, apps modify sitemap structure incorrectly.
Quick test: In Search Console, remove the sitemap, wait 5 minutes, then re-submit it. This often clears temporary errors.

Hello, Are you now able to solve this or still need some insight
