I recently created a store called https://www.wundergoods4you.myshopify.com and then switched it over to https://wundergoods24.com. The issue I’m facing is both URLs are showing up in Google search results (image below). The homepage URL seems to be tied to the old myshopify.com URL whereas the product page is correct. How would I go about updating the homepage domain? I already have the myshopify.com URL redirecting to the wundergoods24.com.
The myshopify.com domain also isn’t indexing in Google Search Console so I’m confused why it’s showing up.
Rio here from the Shopify Community team. Could you let me know when you updated your domain? This could be due to domain propagation.
It’s important to note that domain propagation can take up to 48 hours, so it’s possible that the old myshopify.com URL is still appearing in search results due to the delay in updating. Additionally, Google indexing is not an instant process, so it may take some time for the new domain to be fully indexed in Google Search Console.
In the meantime, I recommend giving it a little more time for the domain propagation and indexing process to complete. If the issue persists after 48 hours, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to assist you further.
As a growth tip, consider setting up a professional email address using your domain with Shopify Email. This can help establish credibility and professionalism when communicating with customers and potential business partners.
