I was running a successful Shopify store for the past two years. The majority of my sales were coming from Google Shopping Ads. Unfortunately, I had to pause the ads and temporarily close my store for a year. I just recently re-opened my website and enabled Google Ads, but I have not been getting much traffic or sales. Nothing compared to what I used to get. I am seeing my products show up on Google shopping ads.
How long will it take to start seeing conversions and more traffic on my site? Should I keep a lower budget for now while Google learns how to optimize my ads? Any insight would be much appreciated!
If you had your campaign paused for a year or more there is a very good chance the campaign settings and content are no longer up-to-date with the current requirements for ad campaigns. There is a new campaign type called PMax - i would suggest starting a new campaign in this format and optimizing the new campaign from there.
You did not mention your daily ad budget when your previous campaign was running successfully and generating those sales. Presuming you were running on a sizeable budget previously, and you paused your successful campaign for a long time, you would need to restart from scratch again from a lower budget while Google learns how to optimize your ads again.
You’ve to monitor the performance and make adjustments accordingly. What worked before might not necessarily have the same degree of success now. Unfortunately, you have to be patient, wait for the algorithm to train up again and make the essential adjustments based on the latest performance.

Make sure you focus on increasing conversions, for example if you are using PMax, choose conversions in the beginning, then once you have some data, switch to ROAS.
