I’m currently setting up Google Shopping for my Shopify store and facing an issue where some of my products are either not showing in Google Merchant Center or getting disapproved
I have already connected my store and synced the product feed but still running into problems like missing required fields or policy warnings
In some cases products are active in Shopify but not appearing in Merchant Center and in other cases they are disapproved without a very clear reason
I wanted to ask if this is a common issue and what are the main things I should double check
Is it related to product data like titles descriptions GTIN or images or could it be something related to shipping tax or website policies
Also does it take time for products to properly sync and get approved or should everything work instantly after setup
Would really appreciate if someone can guide me on best practices or common mistakes to avoid while setting up Google Shopping feed on Shopify
products are active in shopify but not showing in GMC: can you please share how are you syncing products to Merchant Center from Shopify? for example is it some app like the Google and YouTube one (as that is buggy). but still please confirm.
regarding warnings for products, so please note that google has certain product data requirements for all merchants that you must follow in order to get your products approved on GMC.
these requirements include, adding all the required attributes, following guidelines for all attributes (i.e, titles cannot exceed 150 characters) and so on.
please ensure your feed complies with these requirements. or else google will disapprove items.
therefore, yes, attributes like GTINs, descriptions, or even shipping can play a role in feed approval.
and lastly, keep checking the “Needs attention” tab in Merchant center. that will highlight all issues, and from there, click on the blue links to actually reach the google support page where you will find the explanation and the resolution.
let me know if this helps or if you have more concerns
Yeah this happens all the time with Google Merchant Center. The most common culprits are missing GTINs (Google wants them for branded products but you can exempt handmade or unique items), images that don’t meet their specs (white backgrounds usually work best), and vague product titles or descriptions that trigger their policies. Check your Merchant Center diagnostics tab because it’ll tell you exactly which products failed and why, even if the reason seems cryptic at first. Also if your shipping and return policy pages aren’t clearly linked in your footer Google will flag that too.
The issue regarding products not appearing in Google Merchant Center, is due to the google and youtube app not updating. To fix this uninstall the app and re-install the app.
Yes it is common to see this with the google and youtube app and it is related to the app itself. Not related to titles, descriptions, gtin or images.
- Merchant Center final attributes and exact disapproval text
If a product is active in Shopify but missing in GMC, it is often a sync/source/channel availability problem. If it is present but disapproved, the final attributes and exact warning text usually tell you whether it is product data, image, shipping/tax, website policy, or identifier related.
A small masked table is usually enough to narrow it down. No admin access or customer/order data should be shared.
