Hello,
While using the graphql admin API 2023-04, I can repeatedly get the following internal server error selecting deletion_events:
Internal error. Looks like something went wrong on our end.\nRequest ID: 17f339d3-0653-48ef-9126-324f4c6c3c21
Main issue: Internal server errors occur when querying deletionEvents in the Shopify Admin GraphQL API (observed on API version 2023-04 and reproducible across multiple versions).
Latest update: The error can be avoided by removing the deletionEvent.subjectType field from the query. Developers have been notified; a fix is pending.
Technical context: deletionEvents returns records of resource deletions; subjectType is a field indicating the type of the deleted resource.
Additional reports: Similar internal errors were encountered when querying manual_holds_fulfillment_orders and marketing_events.
Follow-up findings: These additional errors could not be reproduced by support on the manualHoldsFulfillmentOrders and marketingEvents queries. Issues may be tied to specific requested fields or data in the affected store.
Action items: Use the workaround (omit deletionEvent.subjectType) for now. If errors persist on other queries, contact support via the partner dashboard with full query examples and recent timestamps to enable log review.
Status: Partially acknowledged and under investigation; no resolution yet. Workaround available; discussion remains open.

Hi @Jichao
I was able to replicate the errors on the deletionEvents query using several different API versions and will notify our developers.
Thanks for flagging this!
Just wanted to add that I cannot replicate the error if I remove the deletionEvent.subjectType field from my queries.
I would recommend removing that as a workaround until our developers have a chance to investigate the issue.
Thank you!
I also ran into the same issue with a few more tables:
manual_holds_fulfillment_orders
marketing_events
Hi @Jichao
I haven’t been able to replicate any errors with the manualHoldsFulfillmentOrders or marketingEvents queries.
The errors you are seeing could be related to a specific field being requested, or the the data related to a store you are working on.
If you are still able to replicate the errors can you reach out to support through your partner dashboard with full examples of the queries and recent timestamps to help us lookup the details in the logs?
Thanks
