Has anyone tried the new Google Shopping Feed App for multi-country support?

Hi folks,

I received an email a few weeks back saying a new Google Shopping Feed App is about to drop. Or more specifically, the Shopify-developed app will be replaced by one managed by Google. It said people would be migrated from early September.

Has anyone been migrated or seen this new App? Reason is, I’m looking at multi-country feed support which is muted to be supported by the new App. I’m wondering whether to hold fire on my multi-country development until this App is available, or push ahead with something independent in the mean time. Be that to use a third party App or do use something semi-manual like google sheets or xml uploads.

I’ve no idea when or if I will be migrated to this new App, or indeed whether it is any good…

curious for any views?

thanks

Martin

I don’t believe Google’s native app will support multi-currency in the sense that it will pull localized pricing from Shopify.

Instead, it will use your stores default currency and then convert in Google Merchant Center, this method has existed for many years and its a very bad solution.

Becuase end users will see two prices from different currencies, 1 native, and one store default currency. This causes end users to be less likely to click on your ad, and also the available impressions are much lower.

I recommend submitting dedicated localized feeds using: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

That is what I do for my clients.

Thanks for the reply. I suspect you are right, the as-yet-unseen-native-app probably wont hit the mark.
