Has anyone found a way to add extra fields to the product page only in the Admin to include the cost of transaction fees, and what is cost for freight to get the products in? I would love to be able to get our real cost in so we know our true profit. Thanks
Can’t you use product metafields if those information is just for your reference and you should not use those metafields on storefront ?
You can create metafields from settings → metafields in shopify backend

I only want them visible in the back end where the cost of the product is entered not on the store front.

We want to know the true cost of our products to track the profits. I have not tried the meta fields yet
In the backend of the product, you can add these prices
- Price
- Compare at price
- Cost per item (This is not visible on frontend)
and if metafields are available on the frontend if we call them otherwise those are just in backend only

It sounds like you’d want to use Metafields here: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/custom-data/metafields
So you would first add Metafield definitions and you’ll see those additional fields on your product pages in the Shopify Admin towards the bottom of the page:
One thing to note is you can add Metafields at the product level or variant level. So if the fees can also vary by variant, then you’d probably want to use Variant Metafields instead of Product Metafields.
Thank you for this info. We don’t use the online store we use the POS only. Will this help if we just want it in the admin page the backend?
I think, metafields can still be used as you want to use those only in backend to store some information about the products
