I just noticed that the filter bar on my website comes up with no results for any attribute. I have 100s of products if not 1000s, and the only way for me to add Filters to products is to go into my products and select each one and add a tag that is relevant to the filter (ie. for filtering by color I have to select all the black products in my entire store and add a ‘Black’ tag to them and so on and so forth for all the colors). Same goes for filtering by price, I figured these would automatically populate based on the price of my items but instead I have to add a tag to all the products in that price range. The Shopify Search & Discover app unfortunately doesn’t work with my theme, so if that is a solution it’s not going to work for me. I purchased my theme on Etsy. Does anyone know of any app that can identify products based on color and size and automatically add a relevant tag to them?

If a third party marketplace theme doesn’t even work with either the standard filter systems, or the shopify search and discovery app you may be in for a rough time constantly shoring up the themes deficiencies.

Either dig on the app store for product categorization/tagging apps .

Or export/import the product data & metafield data(if relevant) and use excel/gsheets/etc to run formulas to auto-populate the relevant tags or metafields.

Or an automation app like shopify-flow, or mechanic app to build automation logic.
