Help Diagnosing Issue With Google Ads Shopping Performance

Hey guys!

I need some help with this PerformanceMax campaign which is using standard Google channel feed from Shopify (planning to move it to datafeedwatch but that’s a separate issue). The pmax campaign has been at basically 0 ROAS for all of march and previously had been at between 5-9.

While many products are not approved to run which I thought could be part of the issue, I then went into the products that HAD converted in the previous month and they were all still active. I then looked at impressions and clicks in GMC and on the 15th of March, bam, they all start dropping. From 45 clicks a day to 4 clicks a day, basically overnight (and replicate that by 26+ SKUs).

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause something like this?

We had made changes to other campaigns in the account, but nothing specifically around the 14th that should account for this shift.

This can signal issues in Google Merchant Center.

Check that adult content was not accidentally enabled, by going to GMC > gear icon > account settings > disable adult content.

Also check if the diagnostics tab located under products don’t have any errors, or too many errors.

Consider checking your change history, in Google Ads to see if anything changed just before the drop in performance.
