HELP! Fake Store Using My Logo and Listing My Products 30% Off

Hello,

I received a call from a customer looking to place an order with my company. The prices they mentioned seeing online were significantly less than our products. I asked the customer for a screenshot of the cart they were viewing which they provided. To my dismay it was our products pictured along with our store logo, but the domain is different.

Is there any way of me finding who this store is hosted with and what is the best course of action to get this resolved quickly.

My domain is below

www.bestknob.com

The phony website is here

www.knob-store.com

A quick response would be greatly appreciated!

I’m pretty sure your best action first would be to speak to shopify they may have a fraud team? If they are actually taking sales and not sending them, or selling your product that is patented then you can go down the legal route!

Hi, @xiaopei .

Thanks for reaching out and posting your question to the Shopify Community.

We appreciate you sharing all of this context and I understand this situation is not ideal. Rest assured, I’ll do my best to provide the applicable resources and guide you in the right direction.

If you believe a store is using your copyrighted material, I encourage you to review our DMCA Takedown Policy on our help center page. In our resource we’ve shared information on copyright notice requirements, reporting copyright infringement and our trademark policy. Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose whether or not a store is hosted on our platform.

Once you’ve reviewed the DMCA Takedown Policy, you can use the DMCA Takedown Notice form to report intellectual property infringement. To do so, you can log into your store or create an account here. I would like to advise that creating an account to report is not associated with signing up for a Shopify store. This only requires a simple email verification to complete. Once a DMCA Takedown Notice form is received, you should receive a confirmation via email.

For further information, I recommend replying directly to the ticket ID that would be created once the DMCA Takedown Notice is successfully received.

Thank you for the responses. It appears to be a credit card phishing scam. I used an expired gift card to try to place an order. It request all of your information name, shipping address, etc… when you finally click submit order, it gives an error code that no shipping method was chosen. However, it does not give you the option to select a shipping method. It seems they are just skimming credit card info. The site looks like it was established in July of 2022 and appears to be hosted with WooCommerce. I have not received any calls from customers stating they are unable to place an order so my hope is that we caught it early enough and the site hadn’t received any other traffic.

UPDATE

So following Shopifys solution unfortunately didn’t resolve the issues since the site was not being hosted by them.

The final solution ended up being filing a “report abuse form” with with name.com. They were able to research the domain and found it to be fraudulent. The were able to delist the site so it is no longer working.

I hope this helps others who might find themselves in this situation.
