This is my first time diving into Shopify, and I’m already impressed by the community and wealth of information here. That said, I’m experiencing a bit of information overload from all the videos, documentation, and posts I’ve explored on the “interwebs”.
I’m hoping some fellow developers can point me toward solid, reliable resources (articles, videos, or threads) that can guide me in the right direction.
A bit about me and my situation:
- I’ve been a developer for 25+ years, experienced in technologies like HTML,CSS, JS, C#, and so many others.
- This is my first time working with Shopify.
- I’m working with a successful client who has a thriving Shopify store. They’re supportive and willing to let me learn the Shopify ecosystem, but I want to approach this carefully.
My goals:
Don’t break their production site!
What I’m trying to do:
- I’ve created a Shopify Partner account.
- I want to import their production store into a development environment (to safely test changes, explore plugins, and make modifications).
- I’m struggling to find clear, best-practice resources for setting up this kind of development environment.
I’m fine with repeating tasks or recreating setups if needed (even if I lose the “transfer site” functionality).
If you have any personal recommendations—videos, articles, guides, or threads—that helped you when you were starting out, I would greatly appreciate it!
