Help for the right inventory setup for selling Suits

Topic summary

Inventory goal: switch from selling suits as a single SKU to selling jackets and trousers as separate SKUs, plus a discounted “complete suit” product. Requirements: one shared inventory for components, bundle purchase should deduct one jacket + one trouser from the same stock, and allow selecting different sizes for jacket and trouser. Competitor examples and store link provided.

Proposed solutions:

  • Bundleup (app):
    • Inventory: map bundle stock to component SKUs; bundle goes out of stock if any component is out of stock.
    • Fulfillment: after purchase, replaces the bundle line with component SKUs so stock decrements correctly. Supports bulk CSV mapping and size options per component. Setup guide linked.
  • Bundle Kit (app):
    • Bundle inventory management that deducts correct quantities from the individual jacket and trouser SKUs. Supports mix-and-match bundle creation. Guide linked.

Key terms: SKU = stock keeping unit (unique product/variant identifier). Bundle = a product composed of multiple SKUs sold together.

Status: No confirmation from the original poster on implementation; no final decision or resolution. Later replies include off-topic promotional posts unrelated to the technical question.

Hello all

We want to change how we inventory our products. Today we are selling a complete package with jacket and trousers (One SKU). The customer only have the option to select one size for both pieces. One variant with “size”.

We would like to start selling the trousers and jackets as individual products, and also have one product where you buy the complete suit. The individual trousers and jackets are more expensive to buy separate, but if you buy the complete suit, you saxe X amount.

Our wish in the inventory is only to have to inventory trousers and jackets. Is it possible to set up a solution when we sell a complete suit ( one jacket and one trouser) they are taken from the same inventory as the individual products ( one jacket and one trouser disappear form the inventory when we sell a complete suit)

I have looked at all diffrent bundle apps and inventory, but I can’t seem to find a solution. Our competitors we some nice solutions (See links)

Hi

This is a common issue for our users where they have individual SKUs but they are bundled into other single SKUs. The way to manage inventory is to bundle each product or variation that uses the component SKU.

You could even set up your bundle to give your buyers the option to select a different size for trouser and jacket like:

  • Option 1: Trouser Size
  • Option 2: Jacket Size

Our bundle app has 2 main features that would help you in this set up:

1. Inventory Management

Bundleup lets you connect up products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So if your scenario the bundle stock level would be dependent on the stock of trouser and pants SKUs. If one goes out of stock the bundle will also go out of stock.

2. Order Fulfilment

When you sell one of the bundle sets the component SKU levels won’t reduce automatically. What Bundleup does is update the order post purchase by replacing the order line with the component SKUs as order lines which then reduces stock. This then feeds into point 1 above where it updates all linked products.

We also offer a bulk csv file upload option so it is quicker to map all your gift sets to correct SKUs.

If you need help in setting up and testing please get in touch. You can also find our guide here:

Hi @SuitClub

This is Jun from Bundle Kit.

Our app is able to meet your needs as it is primarily a bundle inventory management system so it will also be able to use the inventory of the individual products even if you have created bundles using our app.

Proper quantity will also be taken out of the inventory of each bundle that is being purchased.

You can create bundles using our app. We have step-by-step instructions here: https://help.bundlekit.io/creating-a-mix-match-bundle

Let us know if you have any questions.
