A user needed to change the checkout page payment option label from “Credit card” to “P-card” for a client who uses that terminology. Shopify support initially said this wasn’t possible, despite successfully changing “Store Credit” to “Budget Dollars” for the same store.

The solution worked successfully. Screenshots were shared showing the exact location of the setting in the theme editor.

on the checkout page, one of the payment options is credit card which we want.
However this store is for one our clients and they refer to credit cards as P-cards.
I would like the payment option to say P-card instead of credit card.
i contacted online support and they couldn’t do it.
The odd thing is that they were able to change the payment option from Store Credit to Budget Dollars.

Yes, this is possible.
You should go to Online Store=> Themes, click 3-dot button for your theme and select “Edit default theme content”.
Then click the “Checkout & system” tab and scroll down till you see “credit card label” (it’s a long scroll – or search!)
Tim-thank you so so much!! This worked beautifully!! Before I posted my question, I went on to Shopify Support Chat and they said that it could not be done. And you showed me how to do it! I am SO grateful!!! I may be posting more questions. I hope you will answer again.

Any wording you may be able to change in Checkout is defined in “edit default theme content”.
There is a huge number of labels and values.
General idea is to go there and search for current words, select the most relevant, change and try.
(When on Plus or when using apps it may be different).
