Help Needed with Fraudulent Websites Scraping Our Data and Images

Hi everyone,

I’m facing an urgent issue with several fraudulent websites that are scraping data from our store and using our product images to run scams.

I’m now looking to escalate this to Shopify and would appreciate any advice from the community:

  • Has anyone else experienced this, and what steps did you take to resolve it?
  • Is there a way to protect our store’s data and images from being scraped?

Any help or guidance would be much appreciated!

Hi there! I’m sorry to hear this.

This app is not mine however it looks like it may be helpful in your situation. As far as I know shopify does not have any built in tools to prevent this.

scrappers like https://shopify-scraper.com are easily bypassing any such apps

We are having the same problem. It takes a bit of work, but once we track down the hosting provider we can usually get the sites removed that way. However, it’s absolutely wild to me that Shopify doesn’t have built in tools for preventing this! The fraudulent websites even say they’re are hosted by Shopify (which they aren’t), and I assume are copying proprietary theme files and code that Shopify should want to protect for its own business purposes. It’s not a good look, Shopify!
