I’m a new Shopify user and am currently running my shop with the ‘Canopy’ theme.
My store was launched this week however we’ve only just noticed that our product descriptions are not showing. All of our products have product descriptions included in the admin backend but for some reason, they are not reflecting in the shop face. I have checked the text colour but it appears that the description is not on the page at all and there is also nowhere to adjust these settings under the Theme settings.
Please help as descriptions are critical to us and I simply can’t identify the issue.
Hi Chris! I couldn’t agree more - in fact, we have a great blog post here that shares ten tips for writing a persuasive product description if you’re interested.
To make sure those descriptions are appearing on your product pages (specifically with Canopy theme), you’ll first visit your theme editor (found in your Shopify admin via Online store > Themes > Customize). From the drop-down menu, select Products > Default product. In the sidebar, expand the section Product pages and choose Add block > Description, since it sounds like this isn’t selected by default. Let me know if that does the trick!
my problem is a little different.
I have the description page you are talking about there.
but when I click on my product I would like it to open a separate page with the item and description.
but it doesn’t do that. It just opens the description at the bottom of the home page which I don’t like… I’d like them to go into the product and see a description
if I click on a product it just takes me back to the home page
I tried to follow this in my Canopy theme but it doesn’t work. When you go to my website the product descript shows to some products but not to all. How can I fix this?
