Help using "line-item-property__field" to include in a list of orders

Topic summary

A merchant is trying to export line item properties (student name and teacher name) captured via <p class="line-item-property__field"> into a CSV file of orders. These custom fields are visible in individual orders but don’t appear as available fields in Shopify’s native CSV export.

Current limitation:

  • Shopify’s default export functionality does not support including line item properties in CSV files.

Proposed solutions:
Multiple app developers confirmed this isn’t possible natively and recommended third-party apps:

  • Report Toaster – can export line item properties
  • EZ Exporter – supports custom fields in exports with dedicated documentation
  • Report Pundit – retrieves line item properties in CSV, Excel, and PDF formats
  • Better Reports – includes 60+ built-in reports, supports scheduled exports to email/Google Drive
  • Order Porter – specifically designed for exporting orders with line item properties, no customer data access required

The merchant acknowledged the responses and indicated they would explore these solutions. The discussion remains open with no final decision reported.

Hello. I’m using

to capture 2 text fields in my orders (student name and teacher name). I can see these 2 fields for every order. However, I would like to include them in a CSV export of orders and I don’t see them anywhere as available fields. Is there a way to do this?

Unfortunately, you can’t currently do this natively in Shopify. However, our Report Toaster app can do this for you. Please feel free to take a look and use the support chat for help getting this configured.

Hey there @estebanjnunez ,

It’s currently not possible to include them in Shopify’s default CSV export as Sam mentioned.

If you’re open to using an app, our EZ Exporter app can also include these fields for you (more info here).

Thank you for the information. I will look into both of those solutions.

Hi** @estebanjnunez ,**

If you’re still looking for a solution, Report Pundit can retrieve line item properties as well as order and product records in CSV, Excel, and PDF formats.

You can reach us at support@reportpundit.com

Thanks!

Hi @estebanjnunez

Claudia here from Better Reports.

Have you been able to find a solution to this? If not, I would recommend our app Better Reports.

Line item properties can be included in any sales report. We could help you set up the ideal report for you which can be exported in CSV, Excel, and PDF, and can also be scheduled to be sent to you on a regular basis to your email or Google Drive.

In addition to this, Better Reports has more than 60 built-in reports available out of the box that cover many common use cases for merchants.

I encourage you to install Better Reports and start your free 14-day trial and I’ll be happy to set this up for you.

What do you think?

Hi there :waving_hand:

I noticed many merchants face the same issue while trying to export orders with detailed Line Item Properties, so I actually built an app specifically to solve this problem — it’s called Order Porter.

What it does:

  • Lets you export orders along with Line Item Properties (including custom fields).

  • No need to grant access to customer information — it only pulls the data you choose.

  • Super simple setup — no coding required.

You can check it out here: Order Porter – Shopify App

I believe this will perfectly address the issue you’re facing.
