Help: variant id changing // third-party issue

Hello,

So I’ve been having issues with Variant IDs being changed/updated as I’m going through and cleaning up our product pages and ensuring things like color names are fully listed rather than abbreviated but noticed these changes are causing links to be broken with third-party software as the Variant IDs are changed.

Is there a way to avoid this or if this is just how the process works, would there be a way to export the products/inventory in a CSV file that would include the Variant IDs so I can work on importing to the third-party system in order to avoid having to re-link one by one.

How are you updating the variants? Are you sure you’re not straight up replacing the variant? If the latter case you would expect a new id. For an update the ID won’t change. Would be interested in how you’re doing the change to help know if what you’re seeing is expected.

Even an example or screenshots could be helpful too.

Were you making the changes directly in Shopify Admin or were you doing it via a 3rd party app such as Matrixify?
