Help with google Ads and Analytics conversion tracking

Topic summary

Main issue: Google Analytics isn’t consistently counting conversions or revenue, and imported conversions into Google Ads show no values (e.g., revenue).

Current setup: GA4 is being used. The GA4 tracking code has been placed on the Shopify order confirmation (Order Status) page for months. The GA ID is set in preferences. The merchant asked if their code snippet is correct (screenshots provided), but no confirmation yet.

Suggested troubleshooting:

  • Verify Google Analytics and Google Ads are properly linked and that the correct goals/conversions are selected for import.
  • Check that conversion tags fire on the order confirmation page (use Google Tag Assistant or Google Tag Manager preview).
  • Align attribution models between GA and Google Ads.
  • Ensure revenue and currency settings match in both platforms.
  • Allow for possible reporting delays in Google Ads.

Additional recommendation: Consider a Shopify app (Infinite Google Ads Conversion Tracking) for more reliable tracking.

Status: Unresolved. Key open items include confirming the correctness of the GA4 snippet on the confirmation page and validating tag firing and account/linking configurations. Screenshots are relevant for diagnosing the code setup.

Hi Everyone. We’ve had a problem where google analytics is not counting conversions and conversions values properly (A few here and there). When i import the conversions from analytics into ads, the ads are not showing any conversion values such as revenue. Any help would be massively appreciated. Thank you

I have my google Analytics id placed in my preferences. Did you mean this?

Hello @Northernkarlos ,

Are you using Google Analytics 4, the latest Google Analytics version?

Have you also added the GA tracking code to the order confirmation page?

For doing this go to your theme Settings > Checkout. Now under the Order Status Page, add the tracking snippet to the Additional Scripts section.

Hope this helps

I am indeed using google analytics 4 and have had the G4 tracking code in the confirmation page for a few month. Is this code correct? Thank you

Hi ,

I hope you are doing well. It sounds like there may be an issue with the setup or data sync between Google Analytics and Google Ads.

First ensure Google Analytics and Google Ads are correctly linked, and the right goals are being tracked.
Make sure conversion tags are firing properly using Google Tag Assistant or Tag Manager.
Ensure compatible attribution models are set in both platforms.
Double-check that revenue tracking and currency settings match in both Google Analytics and Google Ads.
There may be a short delay in data appearing in Google Ads.

Additionally, I suggest using the Infinite Google Ads Conversion Tracking application. It provides more accurate tracking and seamless integration with Shopify, which might resolve some of these issues more effectively than manual setup.

If the problem persists, reaching out to Google Support could be helpful.

Best regards,
Nimra
