Help with my shop

Hello everyone,

we’re newbies and set up our shop and Etsy the last weekend of November 2025.

We’re not selling on here, only one sale last weekend where on the other platform we have 21 sales.

We’re grateful for any advice at all and tips you may have. We really want to make it work but it’s soul destroying right now.

We have quite a few items to photograph and pop on tomorrow, but it’s disheartening when nobody wants to buy anything.

Thank you for reading, any help and advice would be great fully appreciated.

Our Shop

Take care

Did you built your website yourself?

Can you tell what are the ■■■■ of the total website visitors?

Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it. We have an SEO and image optimisation app installed it’s called Tiny something, sorry I can’t remember. I will look into the ai blog writing tool too, thank you so much! I’m just at a loss right now and don’t have a clue what I’m doing!! Take care x

Hello, yes I built it myself but using Shopify. The total number of visitors is 1716

Take care

Thank you so much, your help and kindness is appreciated greatly. Are there any apps you’d recommend for the blog writing? We’re on a tight budget so free plans would be brilliant.

many thanks

Hi Lottie,

I’m testing on the desktop so you can get an idea of the issues.

General:

  • The background is very feminine. WCAG has not been taken into account here (pink buttons on a pink background, too little contrast).

Header:

  • First the menu, then the announcement bar → change the order.
  • Two different background colors → make the announcement bar a different color (e.g., blue).

Home page:

  • The shadow in the hero button is a bit confusing. Remove it.
  • Every word is capitalized. This is feasible, but I see it in every shop.
  • White space between hero & featured product.
  • ATC button disappears into the background. Customers should buy, not search.
  • “Share” and “View full details” have too little contrast.
  • The product range has the shadow again and also a hover effect. Feasible, but the product images are not distinct enough. The customer is confused about what to see here.
  • Product title is lost
  • “Browse our collections” → Better images, increase font thickness
  • “View all” button also has contrast issues again.
  • “Create your own bracelet kits” → Make this into a separate page. You want to offer customers added value. Communicate clearly, use an app here if necessary.
  • Rewards is too long. Keep it short, create a separate page for it. FAQ is missing. How do I get in as a customer? Everything must be clearly defined on the home page. Short and clear.
  • Shorten the home page a little. Too much content.

Product page:

  • Wish list is too prominent.
  • “Name box” has a character limit – this is not communicated.
  • Description in a collapsible field; more information is needed, such as shipping details.
  • Again, the customer has to search for the ATC.
  • Contrast and general displays (add to wishlist is longer than the ATC button).
  • Apart from the standard “You may also like,” there are only reviews → far too little on the PDP.
  • Rewards section too long.

Shopping cart

  • Better to use an insert.
  • Some more adjustments are needed.

What am I missing here?

  • In short: social proofs, price anchors, and scarcity cues
  • Customization
  • Lots of design adjustments

As long as the shop is not unique enough, customers will buy elsewhere. It should also be clear that SEO, etc., only has leverage if the foundation, i.e., the shop, is well built. You have added a few more sections in addition to the standard sections. That’s not enough these days. People want more. Due to scam shops and general sensitivity, a near-perfect shop is almost a must. Mobile first should always be the basis. Choose a premium theme from the theme store and customize it. Dawn has a stable foundation, but it’s usually not enough anymore.

Once you’ve implemented most of these measures, you can start with SEO and ads. Otherwise, you’ll just be burning through your money - and that’s definitely not what you want.

Thank you so much for such a detailed response, it’s very kind of you to do that.

I am however lost on the acronyms I’m afraid, I have no idea what they mean.

I have a lot to get through so will do that piece by piece. I do have a separate section for the create your own bracelet kits?

I am very grateful for your help, just a little lost, please could you simplify? I’m not being rude, I have a neurological condition and find processing hard at times, especially when it’s new info.

Thank you so much for your kindness,

Lottie

That’s brilliant, thank you so much! You’ve been so helpful and I really appreciate it.

Hi Lottieflo,

You’re definitely not alone—this stage is prevalent for new Shopify stores, especially when you’re coming from Etsy. Etsy brings built-in traffic, while Shopify requires you to actively drive visitors, so low or slow sales at the start don’t mean your products aren’t good.

Focus on improving product photos, clear and benefit-driven descriptions, pricing, and basic SEO. Start bringing traffic through Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, email, or small test ads, and add trust signals like reviews, FAQs, and clear shipping/returns—these make a big difference for new visitors.

To speed things up, Iconic Sections can help you add ready-made, conversion-focused sections like testimonials, featured collections, trust badges, and FAQs. No coding required, easy to customize, and packed with settings to help your store look more professional and trustworthy: https://apps.shopify.com/iconic-sections

Hi @Lottieflo ,
Don’t feel discouraged, what you’re experiencing is actually very common.

Etsy already has built-in traffic, so people are constantly browsing and discovering new products there. With a Shopify store, you’re starting from zero, so you have to bring the traffic yourself through social media, SEO, email, or ads.

The fact that you’ve made 21 sales on Etsy is actually a great sign it means people like your products. Now the goal is to direct some of that Etsy traffic to your own site over time.

A few simple things that usually help:

  • Keep adding new products and good photos
  • Post consistently on Instagram, Pinterest, or TikTok
  • Start collecting emails from visitors
  • Make sure your product titles and descriptions use real search keywords
  • Share your Shopify store link in your Etsy shop announcement or packaging

Most Shopify stores don’t see regular sales in the first few weeks. It usually takes a bit of time and consistent promotion before traffic builds up.
