Help with Shopify Email /domain business email

Hi there,

I would like to connect/create a custom domain email address in order to send my emails safely and avoid them to go to the spam folder which happens if I use my gmail account. Also to use it with Shopify Email for my Marketing emails/Newsletter etc.
I currently own a domain purchased and administered at Godaddy which let’s say it is: mydomain.com
Since I have a Wordpress website already connected to this domain, I created a subdomain to use for my Shopify store which is already connected: shop.mydomain.com

Now, what I would like to do is to create an email address with my domain (let’s say, for example: hello@mydomain.com) and link it to my Shopify.
I would like to know what steps do I have to follow to do this? I’m a bit lost and unsure of how this works.
Does Shopify offer the option to get a business email with your domain name (which as I mentioned is hosted by Godaddy)? or would I need to purchase a business email plain through Godaddy and link it to Shopify later on? And if so, how could I link this address to Shopify?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Monica.

Hi @MonnsG

Shopify doesn’t provide email hosting and will only provide email forwarding if using a Shopify hosted domain. In this situation, you will need to setup a personal business email account through a provider of your choice. Doing it through GoDaddy works just fine, but I believe you will need to pay for their services. You can also look into a free email host like Zoho.com as an alternative.

Also, if you are concerned about your emails bouncing I have an amazing resource that you can test that with: Newsletters spam test by mail-tester.com. Create a fake order (set checkout to test mode) using this email address and you will get a full breakdown of all the checks made on the email address and if it shows as verified or spam to the user. Very handy!
