Hide products from product recommendations

I am having a hard time trying to hide products tagged as Wholesale from the product recommendation section. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, i have tried several solutions i have found within the forums and have not had any luck.

Did you try using the Shopify Search & Discovery app? You can edit product recommendations (related or complementary, most times related). There is no option to filter out recommendations by tags, but there is an option to edit in bulk: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-store/search-and-discovery/product-recommendations#edit-product-recommendations-in-bulk-with-metafields

The app allows you to override default recommendations with your own. But this is a manual process for every product, thus is does not exactly answer your question.

You could also filter by tag directly in the code (or more simple, hide with css the generated products that have tag “wholesale”), but to be honest it’s best to hire a developer, this can be a little tricky and you may need html/css/js/liquid knowledge as well as understanding the product recommendation API, I’d say it’s not as simple as it looks or should be, and I believe doing so will reduce the total recommendations you can offer (max is 10, including every “wholesale” product that will be hidden, so keep this in mind).

In this video we have shown the process to manage recommended products using “Search & Discovery app” of Shopify as well as process to edit related-products.liquid for hiding products from recommended products based on product tag.
