Hi there, @EliskaM . Thank you for taking the time to reach out to the Shopify Community with your checkout question. My name is Imogen. Itâs good to meet you!
At this time, itâs not possible to natively hide the express checkout buttons without turning off that method of payment for your checkout. There are some apps that can assist with this, however. In the past, there was a code solution that could be used with some themes, but itâs been a long while since this was an effective method of removing the buttons.
Do you mind me asking why youâre looking to hide these buttons? Iâm happy to bring your request to our Internal Team for their consideration, but having additional context would the team understand the value being able to hide these buttons would bring!
Hi there @Imogen_1 ,
Thanks for the message.
I just found out and managed to âsolveâ it by simply deactivating individual express payments including shoppay (unfortunately) and kinda âreplacingâ it with our local provider Gopay.
Although I have to use Apple pay and Google pay, at least I donât see the express checkout section anymore.
Well, as a visitor, I probably wouldnât mind that much, but it would really confuse the vast majority of our visitors and give the impression that these are the only payment methods I offer. Although it must be said that the one-page checkout has now improved a lot. But even so - in the Czech Republic, for example, Shoppay is not yet that well known, so the main reason for this is that it is just generally confusing and many customers are discouraged from completing the purchase at the checkout. So those are my reasons. I really want to be sure that it will be simple and clear for all customers, as most of stores in the Czech Republic.
But in this thread, not only Czechs agree with it, but a lot of other people from other countries, and I identify with it.
Hey again, @EliskaM . Thanks for following up with me here!
I definitely appreciate you taking the time to share all of that additional context with me. Iâve gone ahead and passed along your feedback, and this thread, to our Developers so they can have another example of where hiding the express checkout buttons wouldâve been beneficial! I canât suggest what the outcome of sharing this information with them may be, but you can trust itâs been seen by those that need to see it!
Our Developers are also aware of the thread that youâve linked in your reply. Many folks have provided us with feedback on this topic in the past, and weâre always happy to hear that feedback and get it passed along to our Internal Teams.
Hey theree @Imogen_1 ,
And I thank you very much for the message
Iâm glad if my point of view is of any use.
One more thing occurred to me - what is still a bit unsatisfactory in this context is that these express payment methods are shown instead of the âbuy it nowâ button. It somewhat spoils not only the appearance, but also some general impression. It would be better if you could at least have a choice - whether to leave only âbuy it nowâ or to display available express payments.
Although I understand the reason why, customers are not quite so understanding. Itâs really the little things that are actually big dealbreakers for a lot of people
Hey again, @EliskaM ! Thanks for following up with me once more!
I appreciate you following up with me again with that additional feedback. Youâre not wrong - having a choice to be able to determine what to be expressed; âBuy Nowâ or the Express options, would be helpful! Weâve had feedback around providing an option presented to us before, so Iâm happy to add this to the feedback Iâve passed along to the Internal Team for their consideration. Thanks!
