Home page stats widget no longer shows time period or date selector

The summary stats bar at the top of the Shopify admin home page (Sessions, Total sales, Orders, Conversion rate, Live visitors) used to display the time period the data covered and allowed you to change it. This context is essential — without knowing the time period, the numbers are meaningless.

It appears this functionality was removed in a recent UI update. The Analytics dashboard is not a substitute since it’s a full report, not a quick at-a-glance snapshot.

Please restore the time period label and date selector to the home page stats widget.

Hey @YC3 .
Hope you are doing great.

Same known issue from the 2026 update, it’s international, not a bug, but a lot of merchants are unhappy about it.
No setting brings it back.

Only two options
Use Analytics, overview instead, it has the date selector and is similar to the stats at a glance.

Add your feedback to the existing shopify community thread on this issue. More votes may push Shopify to fix it.

Thanks for replying @SectionKit - I am not sure where the existing feed on this is located. Will try searching for it again.

I completely agree removing the date selector makes those quick, top-level figures impossible to benchmark at a glance.

While you can’t force the home screen widget to change without Shopify pushing a UI rollback, here is the fastest way to get that exact, uncomplicated overview back:

  • Use the Real-Time Top Bar: Instead of relying on the static Home page layout, click directly on Analytics in your left sidebar. The top of the Analytics Overview dashboard features a dedicated, highly customizable date picker. It saves your preference and gives you the exact quick-glance view (Total Sales, Sessions, CR) for Today, Yesterday, or the Last 7 Days without needing to pull or run deep, complicated reports.

  • Submit Official Dashboard Feedback: Shopify developers actively monitor the Home page layout metrics. To request the date selector back, go to your admin panel, click your Profile name in the top right corner, and select Report issue / Give feedback. Mentioning that the removal creates analytics friction directly alerts the UI product team.

This one is particularly maddening because you’re right: a number without a timeframe is just noise. Sessions up 40%… compared to what? Yesterday? Last year? The widget is essentially decorative now.

The Analytics section (under the left nav) at least still has a date picker, so that’s the quickest workaround within Shopify admin. It’s not as glanceable but the numbers have context.

For anyone who needs proper date-range control as part of their daily workflow, it might be worth moving your key metrics to a dedicated reporting tool where you control the defaults. Mipler lets you set up a dashboard with the same metrics (sales, orders, conversion, sessions) and lock in whatever comparison period you actually care about: vs. last week, last 30 days, same period last year. You open it, the numbers are already in context.

It’s frustrating that we’re reaching for workarounds for functionality that just… worked before. Hopefully Shopify treats this as the regression it is

@YC3, I had the same reply in my thread from @SectionKit and I was not able to find the ‘existing thread’ either. In any case - the broader problem here is that Shopify is marketing to merchants like we’re new to the platform, even after years of successful selling. And the splash page https://admin.shopify.com/store/your-store has gone from marginally useful to utterly useless. The point here is that we are paying for this software, not just the subscription fees, but the card processing fees, the app fees, and more recently tax-calculation fees. As with so many SAAS businesses, Shopify is trying to broaden offerings and increase revenue. But this incentivizes this behavior of making the UI an advertisement. At least in my case the largest fees paid are the processing fees - so optimizing the ability of a shop owner to sell more would seem to be the logical priority, but it’s not. I’d really like to see the admin splash page be a customizable user-centered dashboard, not this advertising junk.

Hi there @YC3
I’ve seen a couple merchants get caught by this after recent admin updates. A practical workaround here is to use the Analytics Overview where the date picker still appllies to all key metrics, and then pin Sessions over time, Sales over time, Orders over time as quick reference tiles so you can even get an at a glace view. Another alternative is with Shopify mobile app home analytics card that prominently displays the active date range. Having one consistent range across all the Analytics Filters would go a long way in bringing back that lost context.
