Are there best practices available that would allow periodic Horizons theme updates to be applied to customized versions of Horizons? In other words if we decide we need to customize Horizons (which we will) are there Shopify Horizons-specific architectural guidelines, for example, that we should adhere to that will allow us to that isolate those customizations such that updating to a newer Horizons as Shopify releases updates isn’t quite so painful?
Hi AlphaBen! We’re currently working on ways to make it easier to update your theme to the latest version when you’ve added custom code. We’ve definitely heard that it’s a pain point. In the meantime, to ensue you don’t have to manually port over code when installing a new update, try to stick to using custom liquid blocks. Those should migrate over ok without conflict.
