How can customers add a custom message to their purchases?

Is there any way of having a perospnalised/customising option where my customers can type in a message they’d like to add to a product they’ve bought. I understand how to do variants of products but is there a way of them being able to add any message they’d like to a product?

Both of these apps offer multiple customization abilities, including engraving and text options. They also both have trial periods and free-plan options.

Also most themes have a cart note that can be used if the message can be at the order level and doesn’t need to be per product.
