What I have done to help with this issue is print out the receipt, because it will print the price along with the QR code of the gift card on a separate receipt. It seems like now we can scan the gift card QR code by tapping the scan icon in the home screen of POS :

After scanning the QR code, the gift card balance and expiry / disabled date will appear.
