I have a custom cake business, and for wedding cakes I require a 50% deposit to hold the date. I currently don’t have the ability through Shopify to show the full amount on a draft order or invoice but only ask for a deposit at this time. I’ve been looking through the app store but I’m not seeing any good options. If you have any suggestions, I much prefer something already made since I don’t have the money for custom coding. I used to be on Wix and even though I left for Shopify, they do have this functionality as part of their basic e-commerce package. I’d love to find that within the Shopify ecosystem. Thanks for whatever wisdom you can share!

This may be a bit “left field” of what you’re looking for, but I wanted to throw out a solution that we offer that is used by many bakeries to schedule their pickups and charge a deposit. BookThatApp is a booking app that lets you both capture a date and an upfront deposit for the order. The advantage of using a booking app is you could limit your orders per day based on the type of cake ordered or pickups across a store level to balance inventory against demand. The balance of payment would still be captured via a draft order, but it would be tied to the booking. Hey @jeremysher , we have a partial payment app called Downpay that’s in free private beta. Our app supports deposits or deferred payment through your online store site however we, and every other app on the Shopify app store can’t support true deposits on draft orders as Shopify is missing that functionality and would just lead to multiple orders for the same product.
