there is nothing different about your theme. The languages for your checkout are the same across all themes hence why Shopify’s checkout looks the same everywhere. You should dive a little harder at it and follow the advice of the comments as multiple solutions have been givin.
It doesn’t matter how ‘hard you dive’ if the option isn’t there. I am not a
newcomer, I ran a web and media media agency for 12 years. The option is
not there for the Dawn theme.
Ok so just so you know this is extremely inconvenient for me to figure out for you but since your helpless I figured I’d go through the trouble to demonstrate how easy it is to do things when following instructions.
step 1. Go to ‘Edit languages’ by your current theme ‘Dawn’ (which I am testing on)
step 2. search ‘notice’ as indicated by previous commentor
step 3. scroll down to section ‘Checkout shipping’
step 4. youll see ‘Shipping method notice’ and you can enter your own custom text to see the image attached.
Literally took me 5 seconds
to figure out. So much for 12 years
I want THE CUSTOMER to be able to add a custom message.
That’s not what this thread is for. This thread is so the shop owner can add a custom message on the checkout page that doesn’t change. Thank you, however, neither of those Cart elements are present in the Dawn theme, despite Shopify saying that all free themes offer Order Notes.

THANK YOU! Looks like they’ve changed it a bit since you first posted, but it’s still under “Shipping Method Notice” at least.
But good gravy, what a terrible UI design, even for that backend… you need to scroll so far down through their Infinite Scroll to even be able to use search for “Shipping Method Notice” to show up as a search result, I had assumed maybe they removed that section at first. NOPE! Just terrible scrolling design, whomever thought Infinite Scroll was a good idea I hope is no longer with the design team because they must not have ever used it.

Absolutely crazy that this simple thing cant be done without paying thousand of dollars a month. My client can barely afford the basic plan at $65 au let alone the $5k a month for plus.
Yes it doesn’t show up in a search at first. So scroll to the end of the endless scrolling page, then search for ‘Shipping method notice’
Still a valid method as of Oct 2025 - just used it to say that duty and tax are not included apart from when they are, very important disclaimer that it would be otherwise impossible to get onto the checkout page without paying an extra £1600 a month for Shopify Plus. Just bonkers.
