Thank you for reaching out about that. If you have a recent version of the Brooklyn theme, this should be a customization option in your theme settings. To do this, navigate to Online Store > Themes > Customize (beside your current theme), which will open up your theme editor. From there, select “Product pages” from the drop down menu at the top of the page, then click on “Product pages” from the lefthand menu, and under “Product Options Form” change the “Picker type” to “Dropdown”. Let me know if you have any questions!
That wouldn’t be a built in option, however you can use an app such as Bold Product Options to do that. Alternatively, you could contact a Shopify Expert, and have them custom code this into your store for you.
Hi, sorry to jump on the bandwagon late, I was wondering the same thing whether drop down menus could be added to the product listing in the Debut theme?
A dropdown option should be the default for the Debut theme, if you have variants on a product. How many options/variants are you trying to have exactly? Are you not able to see a dropdown when you add different variants to a product?
Hi Brie, thanks for your response… no I don’t have variants, but I would like to add them on my product page to add more info without making the listing look so bulky.
Okay, I see. I’d suggest walking through our help docs on creating product variants, which should take you through the whole process. Feel free to contact support any time if you need help along the way.
Sorry for jumping in. I have Blockshop theme and also looking for the drop down menu option on product pages. Is it possible to implements somehow? And also I would like to organise FAQs the drop down menu way. Could you please help?
Blockshop is a third party theme, not developed or supported by Shopify, so your best bet for support with your product pages will be to contact the theme developers directly. They’ll be able to tell you if this is a built in option for that theme, or if it will require custom coding. Regarding drop down options on your FAQ page, using an app like HelpCenter might do the trick. Hope that helps!
Sophia here from Shopify. While the Express theme doesn’t have theme editor settings for how a product’s variant options appear on the product page, drop down menus are automatically enabled for products that have variants. Here’s an idea of what it looks like before and after you click on the variant menu:
Some other themes (like Brooklyn, for example) have a setting for drop down menus in the theme editor because they allow a choice between a menu or buttons. Since Express only has the menu option at this time, you won’t need to configure the setting first. I hope that helps!
Hi, I am also having this issue however I do not have the option to add this, when I go to “Product page” it only gives me the option to enable image zoom?
Are you using the Express theme as well? Products that have variants might display either a drop-down menu or buttons, even if there isn’t an option to enable them in the theme settings. I’m happy to take a closer look if you are able to confirm the name of your theme. Feel free to share your store link here too so we can view the product pages.
How are things going, Gemma? If you still need help with your product page, I’d be happy to take a look at the options based on the theme you’re using.
Below is an example of what the quantity selector looks like on desktop (from the demo in the Shopify Theme Store). It displays a number that customers can increase or decrease with the up and down arrow buttons that surface when hovered over. If you want to change the style of the quantity selector, I recommend getting in touch with our team through the Shopify Help Center so we can submit a customization request to the Theme Support team for you. I can’t guarantee whether the customization request will be approved, but we can absolutely look into it.
