How can I add a metafield with complementary products to the product page

Hi,

I’ve been working with the Dawn theme. Typically, Shopify has the ‘related products’ section. However, this is an automated section where I have little influence which products are presented.

So I’ve created a metafield with a complementary products list. However this is unavailable when I add a section.

I do like the way the ‘related products’ section is presented, so I would like to use that markup, but then with the metafield ‘complementary products’.

Do I need to make a new liquid file? Or can I insert liquid code in a section? How do I go about this?

Replying to my own question:

An easier way about this is to use the Search & Discovery app and edit the product recommendations to manually select related products and hide auto-generated recommendations.
