My store has only one default shipping method. How can I add my shipping method through the API? Just like the picture
Topic summary
Goal: Add an additional shipping method via API when only one default method exists.
Key guidance:
- A participant asked whether this can be done without the API, suggesting a non-API path might suffice.
- Shopify staff recommended using Shopify Shipping for courier-calculated rates (dynamic carrier rates at checkout) if the store is in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, France, Italy, or Spain.
Shopify Shipping benefits (as shared):
- Buy and print labels from the Shopify admin.
- Access discounted label rates.
- Display calculated (not flat) shipping rates at checkout.
Clarifications requested:
- Which specific shipping methods the merchant wants to configure.
- Whether an API-only solution is required or if third‑party shipping solutions are acceptable.
Resources: Links were provided to set up Shopify Shipping and to a blog on reducing shipping costs. A screenshot was shared showing only one default shipping method, but no technical details were included.
Status:
- No direct API method or endpoint was provided in the thread.
- Next steps: clarify desired shipping methods and consider Shopify Shipping or non‑API options. Discussion remains open.
