What is the name of the theme you’re using? There are both free and premium themes in the Shopify Theme Store that already include a search function.
I’m also curious to know where you want the search bar to be displayed on the store. While I’m not able to offer advice for custom coding, I can take a look at the theme on my test store to see what the built-in options are.
Others here in the Community may be able to offer coding advice if you’re looking to customize the theme yourself. Alternatively, a one of the third-party search apps might be what you’re looking for, as these offer not only a search bar but advanced search functionality to help customers find what they’re looking for.

I took a look at the Dawn theme on my test store and found that you can edit some of the design elements under Online Store > Themes > Customize > Theme settings > Input. However, I wasn’t able to change the color around the icon that way, so that change might require some custom code that others here in the Community may be able to provide advice on.
