How can I add a second line for product color options?

I have a few stores who will be adding holiday colors to products and would like them to be on a separate line from the original colors. I don’t want to download any apps, I would appreciate a little coding guidance to achieve this.

Hi There,

Great question! How would the browser/shopify know which color is holiday and which is not?

Do you think utilizing variant metafields would help?

I will create specific swatches for the holiday colors. I just need it in a separate line and I will title it “Limited edition”.

I can try variant metafields.

Are you referring to the option or individual variant?

The option

Can you share a product with the “Limited Edition” option on your site?

The green and red colors on this options are the limited edition colors

Where can I find “Limited Edition”? It isn’t an option.

I think utiliziing the metafields and creating a rule based on them might be the best option.

I created a “limited edition” option, now if I can just turn that drop down menu into swatches.

You will probably need to make a change in the swatches code to apply the swatches setting if the option title is “Limited Edition” (aside from colors).

Do you know how to do that?

Hi @JhordanMSUITE ,

I understand your hesitation about using an app. However, utilizing an app can greatly simplify the process of creating custom options, no coding required. It can save you valuable time and effort.

If cost is your primary concern, I have a suggestion for you: the Free Easify Product Options app  . If your reason for not using an app is unrelated to the cost, feel free to disregard my suggestion.

Take a look at my quick demonstration on how you can easily set up your options with the app:

There is a slight difference in the swatch sizes between the regular colors and the limited colors. This is because one of the limited colors is not a solid color, requiring the use of Image Swatches to accurately depict it, while Color Swatches option type is used for regular colors. However, if you prefer, these styles can be easily customized to make them consistent  .

Could you share the method?

Are you doing ‘exactly’ the same as JhordanMSUITE?

Were you able to get this solved? I am looking for the same

Yes, in terms of layout i’m looking to have our products to have a color and limited edition. Not sure how’d it work for inventory backend.
