How can I add a valid GTIN for my custom digital products?

Hi,

I have a problem with certain digital products for publication on google.
I have set up custom product, as they are files created by myself and do not have a GTIN.
How can I solve this problem?
thank you

ALESSANDRO

You need to remove brand, mpn and gtin values and set identifier exist to false.

A step by step guide explained here: https://youtu.be/AyvilyMb2Bo?t=203

The reason you are having issues is that the free app you are using, assuming this is the app you are using, has bugs that does not allow a merchant to submit accurate product identifiers.

You could also resolve this issue by using a data feed app that allows you to setup these identifiers correctly: https://apps.shopify.com/multiple-google-shopping-feeds

i resolve problem thanks

Hi @ForeverTuning ,

It’s great to hear that you’re selling your custom digital products and that you have resolved the issue.

When promoting those products on Google, you need to indicate to Google that these are custom products as outlined in their help guide:
Are you seeing a “limited performance due to missing identifiers” error on your Google ads?

This is expected behavior and the error won’t likely clear after additional information has been added to your Google Fields. But it’s definitely a good idea to make sure you’ve added that information anyway, and if the product is truly custom, the performance will not be limited (despite the warning).

What is it that you’re selling? And how are you finding the rest of the process of setting up your store?

Now the problem is back but google does so, it goes crazy on its own. I just pointed out to google that GTIN doesn’t exist in custom product. For google ok now only slow shopify in updating

I’m not sure I’ve fully understood your comment, so could I please ask you to send me a screenshot of your Google account where the error is displaying.

Does the error you’re receiving say “limited performance due to missing identifiers”? If so, as mentioned, this is expected behavior and the error likely won’t clear even after additional information has been added to your Google Fields.

This should not be an issue though, as if the product is truly custom, the performance will not be limited (despite the warning).

Hi what is the meaning of this? what do you mean by value thanks

I recommend uploading the image in your post, the link you show is offline. Did you apply the feed rules I recommended in the video?

before those rules were all approved, loaded those rules again the problem. So please if you have to help me ok, but don’t write things that only create problems

This error:

  • You are missing a value for

what significant?

thanks

Your question is not clear, you need to provide detailed information and screenshots if you want members of the community to understand what you are asking. You have to remember, we can not look into your account.

so is it clear? what does shopify want with this error? which is not even visible in the merchant.

In fact, since you pay a service to shopify it would be better that when there is a problem an assistant enters your shop and solves these small problems that many of the times are due to shopify bugs.

I am not downloading your rar file. For security reasons.

Do not use Shopify to check what issues you have in Google Merchant Center. Shopify in this case is a 3rd party. Therefor you should view the issues directly in Google Merchant Center > Products > Diagnostics.

If everything is correct here, you are good to go.

For Shopify related issues, consider contact Shopify directly instead of the community.

For example, I am not a Shopify Employee, I take time out of my professional life to help others resolve issues.

This means that you are missing important information that Google needs to promote your products.

It looks like your products are digital, in most places, digital assets can not be advertised on Google shopping through the Google Channel. However, there are some exceptions, and Google checks and approves on a case-by-case basis.

You can check if your product type is listed in the Google Product Taxonomy, as well as if your store and products are following Google’s Terms of Service.

To add your Google Product category, you can add it in the Google Fields Google Channel - Updating Google Fields on Products.

It is recommended that you add any Google product information directly within the Google channel bulk editor.

I hope this helps! Please have a look at that information and let me know how you get on.

I hope I’ve been able to clarify what the error may be in my previous comment.

I just wanted to clarify that the subscription you have with Shopify entitles you to use our software according to the pricing plan you’ve chosen, as well as 24/7 support which is available via our help center.

When you chose to sign up for Shopify you automatically agreed to our terms of service which outline that:

So while we appreciate your feedback, I just wanted to make you aware of the scope of support you agreed to when you signed up for Shopify. We do not ultimately manage your store for you, we can only offer help through the appropriate channels.

I hope this information also helps!

Nobody is asking for miracles. But at least if you give help or advice, do it wisely. They are digital assets and obviously do not need GTINs. Millions of websites sell such material. However shopify says YOU MISSING VALUE FOR … At least it was clear what value it is asking for otherwise everyone is surfing in the dark. Then ridiculous thing that in the merchant center I have 100% of the products approved so a shopify error or bug
