How can I add and control placement of 'buy now' button on images?

Topic summary

Adding a minimal “Buy Now” button overlay on images in the Shopify Dawn theme, with precise left/center/right placement and consistent styling. Users want to place buttons over banner images and choose which side/image they appear on.

Current limitations noted:

  • Available button option renders as a large centered block over the image, not minimal or positionable.
  • Styling is inconsistent across headers (one button appears simple with no background; another shows a pink background) with no clear controls to unify them.

Additional requests:

  • Drag-and-drop positioning for buttons on images.
  • Ability to add a product info block (“product segment”) without media, or just a “Buy Now” button over a banner image.

Status:

  • No solution, code snippet, or theme setting was provided in the thread.
  • No images or attachments are central to the discussion.

Outcome:

  • Unresolved and open. The conversation suggests the need for custom CSS/HTML or new theme features to support overlay buttons with controllable placement and styling in Dawn.

Hi all!

New to Shopify and currently editing the theme ‘Dawn’ and wondering how to add a minimal ‘buy now’ button on top of an image with control of placement (left/centre/right). How do I have more control over the design as the first header has a simple button with no background but the second one has a pink background?

So I want to add a banner with x2 images and then have control over adding a button to either photo on either side if possible.

So far I have found a button but it is added as a big block/banner in the middle of the photo.

Thanks all!

I was wondering the same thing, and this seems to be the only thing I can find when I search it. So I’m replying to bump it. Maybe they can add drag and drop features for buttons or something.

I have also the same question. Want to add a ‘‘buy now’’ button over an image (banner image) or add the whole product segment (without media)
