How can I add custom shipping rate? Encountered "Shipping not available" error

Topic summary

A user is trying to set up weight-based shipping rates but encounters a “Shipping not available” error at checkout.

Setup attempted:

  • Created a custom shipping profile
  • Added a rate with conditions: $200 fee for items over 100 lb, otherwise free shipping
  • Assigned products to the profile

Problem: When testing with a product at checkout, the shipping option doesn’t appear.

Response received: One commenter suggests the product may not be properly configured in the Shipping & delivery settings, indicating a potential assignment or configuration issue within the shipping profile setup. The exact cause remains unclear without direct access to the store’s backend.

Status: Unresolved; may require hands-on troubleshooting to identify the specific configuration error.

Note: One response appears misplaced, discussing Gmail GIF support instead of shipping rates.

Hi,

I know there are already similar questions about this, and I have tried the recommended solutions, but none of them are working.

Basically, I want to add a shipping rate based on weight. If the product weighs more than 100 lb, I want to set a shipping fee of $200; otherwise, shipping should be free.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Added a custom profile: [screenshot]
  2. Inside the custom profile, I added my rate: [screenshot]
  3. For this rate, I added a condition with a maximum weight of 100 lb and a shipping fee of $200.
  4. Assigned my products, then saved it.

To check, I selected a similar product I added and proceeded to checkout.

However, I got this error: screenshot

Could you help me identify what the issue is?

That’s all—thank you!

Hey there!

Gmail supports GIFs, but sometimes it only shows the first frame if the file is too large or Shopify Email compresses it. Try reducing your GIF size to under 1MB using tools like EZGIF or TinyPNG. Instead of uploading directly, upload it to Shopify’s “Content > Files” and use the image URL in your email. If it still doesn’t animate, Shopify Email might be converting it to a static image, consider using Klaviyo or Mailchimp for better GIF support

you don’t seem to have the product in Shipping & delivery set up. hard to identify exactly what you did wrong without being in there. but you can certainly set it up the way you want to. I would need access through my Shopify Partner account to fix it
